It’s almost summer time and if you love gardening but you don’t have the space for a big garden then I have good news for you! There are plenty of ways to still garden while living in a rental, having only a small patio or deck or even in an apartment. Yes you heard me right.

1. Plant in vertical garden towers

A vertical planting tower is a great way of saving space but still planting a lot of vegetables! Some vegetables that great for towers are lettuce, spinach, strawberries, herbs, flowers, radishes, carrots and the list continues.
2. Garden Table
A plating table is very similar to a garden box except elevated. These are great for small patios or decks. There are several sizes you can get online or make it yourself! This way you can still have a small garden which can give a big yield!
3. Hanging Baskets

Hanging baskets are such great space saving way of gardening! These can be hung on your small balcony, or on your patio or anywhere you have the space outside. They are especially great for strawberries but can be used for other vegetables too!
4. Pots on shelf

Utilizing a shelf is another great way of saving space but being able to plant a lot! This can totally be customized to your space and how much you want to spend. The shelf can be made from recylced materials or from store bought lumber. Terracotta pots especially look great when going for this type of look.
5. Herb Tower
I love this idea of a herb tower! When wanting to save space but having a lot of planting space then vertical is the way to go!
6. Garden on Wheels

A garden on wheels with a simple office rolling cart is such a fun and unique garden idea! This is also super practical when you need to move it. Definitely an option I would explore when having limited space for a garden.
7. Planting Ladder
A planting ladder is another awesome DIY idea that can be easly build with tons of building plants out there or you can also find them on online places like Amazon or Wayfair.
8. Hanging Planters

A classic way to do some gardening may it be flowers or vegetables is utilizing your balcony railing and getting hanging planters. This is especially great for flowers or herbs!
9. Pots and trellis

Another option to consider is simply planting in pots! When planting climbing vegetables like cucumbers then a trellis is a great add on. I personally tried this method and it totally works!
10. Potato Sacks

Have you heard of potato sacks? You can use any thick cloth sack for this method but I love mine that I got off amazon. They are a great way to plant potatoes in small spaces and they still yield a good amount of potatoes!
