Looking for the most recent kitchen trends in the home interior world? Then this post is for you! The kitchen is considered to be the heart of the home and sets the tone for the rest of the house, so its no easy task when designing your kitchen.
I have complied a list of current kitchen trends, however at the end of the day it is important to design a kitchen the way you love it, and want to live with it, trend or not. I still enjoy keeping up with the trends and seeing what’s new in the design world even if I personally don’t love all of them. I hope you have fun with it too.

Ok lets get into it!
1. Darker wood tones in kitchen trends
Medium to darker wood tones are having a moment this year. Light wood and oak tones had their moment the last couple years but are going to have to make some room going forward. Even tho they aren’t going anywhere darker wood is gaining popularity and will be incorporated in more and more kitchens.
2. Smart appliances
The future is now and smart appliances are hugley sought after. New builds usually include appliances with the latest technologies, ovens that can be controlled by phone, microwaves and fridges you can talk to via Alexa, motion censored dispensers, and the list goes on. Find some clever appliances that are currently on the market here!
3. Hidden appliances
Gone are the days of stainless steel appliances all over your kitchen. It now is very popular to hide as much as you can behind panels and cabinets. Built in fridges, microwaves and dishwashers have already been popular and that won’t be changing. Clutter free, uniform and modern minimalistic kitchen styles are popular and hiding your appliances helps achieving that luxurious look.
4. Statement kitchen sinks
Kitchen sinks have so much potential to really make a statement and draw visional interest. Big statement sinks like farmhouse sinks, built in sinks that flow with the countertop, or even something out of the box like copper sinks are very popular in 2024. This picture from OUR FOOD STORIES left me speechless. It adds so much character and beauty to the space!
5. Countertops
Quartz is still a widely popular choice in countertops because it is both practical and beautiful, however more bold choices are being made when it comes to the designs. Bold patterns and veining are going to be very popular this coming year and I am not mad about it. If this is done correctly it can really bring your kitchen to the next level.
6. Colours in 2024
Warmer muted hues are still widely popular including wooden cabinetry and brass faucets. Warm earthy colours are welcomed, also expect more bold/rich colours like dark green, navy and even black which are going to gain some popularity this year.
7. Shelving
Open shelving isn’t going anywhere just yet, however expect more long single shelving perhaps made from marble/stone instead of wooden shelfs stacked that we have been seeing so far.
8. Natural elements
Natural elements like stone, wood and plants have been big the last couple of years and that isn’t going anywhere this year. Bringing the outside in can add a lot of character, warmth and connection with the outside.
9. European kitchen designs
Farmhouse decor and kitchens have been huge in the home interior trends the last couple years. Slowly that’s dwindling out and farmhouse has slowly been replaced with a more European cottage/farmhouse design. This in-tales a bit of a mix of design elements. Modern yet warm hues, warm stains, texture, for example plaster on vent hoods.
10. Statment ovens
With the love of European Kitchens its hard not to fall in love with beautiful European ranges. They have been widely popular and with good reason. They add character beauty and charm to a kitchen and are both practical and so visually pleasing. It seems they will be seen even more in future kitchens!
Final thoughts
I personally love looking at trends and designs however its important to remember they are just that, trends. Some of them might stick around for a long time, some might go just as quick as they came. It is important to choose a style that you love! Something YOU will be happy with years down the line.

I love the idea of hidden appliances, next house I want to do that! I’m tired of my stainless steel popping out and having to wipe it down everyday. I also love the European kitchen look, very beautiful and practical, simple but still modern and posh looking. Also loving the statement ovens so unique
Thank you Shalagh! Glad you liked this post <3
The smart appliances trend is the one that worries me that soon electronics and Alexas take over all the house, but that’s only one way the other is the simpler and farmhouse style. I think it is good that there is always a strike back to the completely different directions. It is interesting to see where this road is continuing…

Yes that can be a little worrisome! Nothing wrong with sticking to the simple “old school” appliances!
I absolutely love the look of a European kitchen; that is a trend I very much want to integrate into our home’s kitchen! Especially with our upcoming cabinet painting in centerville appointment.
I agree, it’s a beautiful style!
