What are elements of an English cottage kitchen?
- Warmth and character: A cottage kitchen usually has a welcoming and cozy vibe. The colours are mostly neutral and warm and other elements also express a lived in, cozy and safe space.
- Natural Material: Natural materials like stone walls/backsplash, exposed wooden beams, hardwood floor and wooden cabinet are often seen in English cottage kitchens.
- Colours used: The colour palette of English cottage kitchen is usually soft and muted, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Earthy tones such as creams, beiges, soft greens, and pale blues are commonly used.
- Cabinet style: English cottage kitchens tend to be on the primitive side, with flush cabinets or even cabinets without doors, lots of open shelving, displaying most kitchen accessories. Very often upper cabinets are left out, and a rustic table is used as an island. Dishes and canisters are often highlighted and usually practically set for everyday use.
