In this post I want to give some practical design tips how to add old world earthy charm to your laundry room! Not only is it very popular in the design world right now but it also a classic style that won’t go anywhere anytime.
The old world earthy style stems from European tradition and is a mixture of moody colour palettes, natural elements, warm organic materials, a lived in feel all contributing to a timeless grounding design aesthetic.

Let’s discuss some of the key features when it comes to styling a old world earthy laundry room!
1. Cabinetry
When it comes to cabinetry then consider going for wooden shaker or shiplap style wooden cabinets like white oak or walnut. Earthy colours like mushroom, olive, putty or terracotta are also great options when designing a laundry room with a old world earthy touch.

Backlash is like jewelry to a laundry room! When choosing backsplash try going for natural materials or something that is unique like hand glazed ceramics, zellige tiles, tumbled marble or a herringbone pattered tile. When designing a space in an old world earthy design stye then you have to think nature! Things that come to mind are stone, clay, moss or wheat. All these give a soothing atmosphere that is grounding and soothing.
