I love hosting and Thanksgiving is the perfect time to gather your loved ones and spend special together, reflecting on the past year, sharing the gratitude for one another and having some fun!
There is nothing wrong with just having fun, eating until we have to loosen our belts and having great conversations, however in this post you will find ideas to make it even more interesting and special, a thanksgiving to remember!

1. Make it a theme party
Who doesn’t love a theme party? Ok, maybe a few don’t, I respect that, however I don’t know a lot who don’t! You can make it thanksgiving themed or whatever else you have in mind! Make guests wear costumes, or bring a dish according to the theme!
2. Gratitude Jar
This is one of the best ways to celebrate Thanksgiving! Write down and share what you thankful for. This makes the party so much more intimate and special, and really is what Thanksgiving is all about.
3. Plan a scavenger hunt
Planning a scavenger hunt can be so fun! This can be done indoors or outdoors or even both! Include a prize for the winner to make it extra special!
4. Organize a sport event
Organizing a sport event is a great idea for Thanksgiving, especially for big crowds! Wether it os football, volley ball or catch the flag. Both adults and children will love this, it also doesn’t hurt to burn those extra calories!
5. Spread your love with the community
What better holiday then to share love with your community, whether its by dropping off pies at neighbours homes or flowers at a nursing home. It’s great when you can do this together as a family and make a difference in your community.
6. Friends-giving
This is nothing new, especially if you are a Friends lover, however I love the tradition of also hosting a thanksgiving dinner only with your friends or girlfriends!
7. Gratitude Time Capsule
Write down what you have been especially thankful for this past year and save it for the next year to open! Make it a yearly tradition, I am sure your family will love this and appreciate it every year.
8. Talent Show
If you want to have a bit more fun and laughs then organize a little talent show with either volunteer participants or something like picking
9. Pie Bar
Either have your guests each bring a pie or bake pies together! This could also be a completion where each group bakes a pie and then the team with the yummiest pie will be the winner!
10. Recipe Swap
Have each guest bring their favourite Thanksgiving Recipe or side dish recipe and swap recipes to try out new delicious dishes!
11. Interactive Centrepiece
You can have fun with this one, for example have a jar with certain activities that the person has to do like finding something they are thankful for about each person around the table. Or have someone to the chicken dance! Be creative!
12. Photo booth
Set up a cute Photo Booth with different props for guests to take pictures and have a QR code ready where the photos can be uploaded for all guests to see.
13. Side dish contest
Similar to the pie bar have all the guests bring their favourite Thanksgiving side dish and have someone neutral be the judge. The winner gets to take home a prize!
14. Gratitude Guessing Game
Write something specific you’re grateful for this year and put your paper in a jar. Have someone pull a paper from the jar and read it aloud, now the guests have to guess which paper belongs to who.
