It’s All About The Finishes
Rentals usually come with builder basic fixtures and finishes. These are usually on the cheaper and more practical side of things. If you are like me and love making every room in your home pretty and visually pleasing then you will love these tips that will transform your bathroom.
Every landlord is different and sometimes painting and changing things up are not a problem, however sometimes there are stricter policies when you don’t have a lot of choices when it comes to finishes.
The general rule with any changes made are rental friendly if:
- it does not require permission from the landlord
- is reversible before you move out
- is budget friendly
Therefore things like painting, wallpaper and changing out hardware is considered rental friendly if you can change it back to its original state once moving out. Or if the landlords approves this!
Let’s get into my favourite hacks to glow up your bathroom when you are limited in your rental!
1. Long Quality Shower Curtian

Choose a quality shower curtain that isn’t just a cheap plastic liner! This will go a long way and take your bathroom to the next level and give it that luxury feel. The higher the curtain the better!
2. Peel And Stick Flooring

This is such a popular hack for renters and all for good reason! Peel and stick flooring can literally transform your room. It is affordable, easy to apply and usually easily reversible.
3. Adding Battery Operated Light Sconces

Battery operated light sconces or light bulbs are the best hack for lighting that doesn’t require any wiring! They instantly elevate a space with a warm glow, and make your space look high end.
4. Cabinet Hardware

If you don’t like your outdated hardware then why not change them out? You only have to make sure to get hardware in the same sizes so extra drilling for holes isn’t necessary. Keep the original hardware to switch it back when you need to.
5. Bathroom Accessories

Bathroom accessories are highly underrated and often times one doesn’t realize that they actually make a huge impact. Having a pretty soap dispenser, high quality towels, and some fresh blooms can instantly add charm and beauty to your bathroom.
6. Swap Out The Mirror

Another great hack to elevate your bathroom is to simply swap your standard mirror for a statement mirror! Keep the original mirror to change it back when you have to!
7. Bring in Texture

Texture goes a long way! Whether its a woven baskets for towels or toilet paper, a ceramic vase or wooden mirror, it will make a difference in the feel and look of your bathroom!
8. Hide Clutter

Hide away any extras like loose cables, hair products, or any other products in a cabinet or baskets. The extra clutter will make your bathroom look and feel unorganized and messy.
9. Upgrade The Bath Mat

Like the shower curtain, don’t cheap out on the bath mat! This can actually make a big difference and is often underrated. Go for a bigger high quality mat to elevate your bathroom.
10. Replace Shower Head

This one is a bit more complicated and not necessarily on the affordable side but if you care committed and you want a difference look then consider switching out your shower head for a new updated shower head! This will make an impact on the whole look and make your showering experiences more enjoyable.
11. Make It Smell Expensive

Humans use all senses and smell often goes unnoticed however bringing a fresh and relaxing smell into your bathroom, may it be with diffusers, candles or another outlet you will be sure to make the bathroom breaks a little bit of a luxurious retreat.
12. Paint Without Paint

If you are limited and can’t paint you bathroom then use art, wall hangings, framed wallpaper or whatever else your can think of to cover your wall and add warmth and interest!
As you can see, just because you are renting, it does not mean you have to settle fot a standard cookie cutter bathroom. You can make it your own with a little bit of creativity!
I hope these tips were helpful to you! Happy decorating!
