What to avoid

Let’s take a quick look at what you want to avoid when it comes to kitchen counters, and what items maybe are just clutter or not trending anymore.

Rae Dunn

I am sorry if I am the barer of bad news, but unfortunately Rae Dunn has left the cool side and is now far long gone. Try to avoid cluttering your counters with common known mugs and dishes.

Clutter

Cluttered kitchen counters are a turn off and are not inviting to yourself or guests. Try getting rid of any unnecessary items you don’t need on your counters.

Excessive Appliances

Only keep the essential appliances you use everyday out on the counter like a coffee maker or toaster. If you only use it occasionally then try storing it away

Dirty Dishes

I think this one is common sense but keeping up with the dishes makes for a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen.

Now let’s get into the practical tips of how to to style your kitchen counters!

1. Keep it seasonal

Keeping it seasonal is a lovely way to spruce up your kitchen counters while keeping it practical! Are lemons in season? Then set out a bowl of lemons which you can use up overtime. Are peonies in bloom? No better way to use them than to set them out in a pretty vase.

2. Kitchen Utensils

A practical and beautiful idea is displaying your kitchen utensils in a pretty jar or crock beside your cooktop. This makes them easy to reach for while also using them as decor.

4. Beautiful oil and soap dispensers

The rule of thumb is if you need to have it out anyway then might as well do it in pretty jars, am I right? Why not use pretty oil or dish soap dispensers, and placing them on a little tray. This will make all the difference and make your kitchen look clean and well put together.

When decorating your kitchen counters it is good to remember to decorate in group of threes. Odd numbers look more organic, and not too staged, and are just more pleasing to the eye!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve had the same kitchen decor for almost 15 years and I’m over it. I convinced my husband to find professional countertop installation near me and I am obsessed with this inspo. I love the kitchen utensil holder you shared. I can’t wait to get started.
